Marybeth Hazel, mezzo-soprano, is a finalist in the Operafest! of NH Vocal Competition and a winner of the Garden State Opera Competition.  Her warm, expressive mezzo voice has lent itself to operatic roles with Metro Lyric Opera of New Jersey, Opera at Florham, Boheme Opera, Commonwealth Opera of Western Massachusetts, Connecticut Lyric Opera, Operafest!, Maine Grand Opera, and Hudson Valley Opera, among others.  Her roles include: Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus); Berta (The Barber of Seville); Suzuki (Madama Butterfly); Badessa (Suor Angelica); Zita (Gianni Schicchi); Mercedes (Carmen); and High Priestess (Aida). Ms. Hazel created the role of Betty in Michael Ching's Faith with Operafest! in Concord, New Hampshire.

 

Ms. Hazel is equally at home on the concert stage, having sung with many orchestras and oratorio societies. Her many concert appearances include Orchestra of St. Peter's-by the Sea, Garden State Chorale and Battleground Arts Concert Series. Concert repertoire performed includes: Handel's Messiah, Saint Saen's Oratorio de Noel, Bach's Magnificat, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Mendelssohn's St. Paul and Elijah, Rossini's Stabat Mater, and the role of Hercules in Handel's The Choice of Hercules.
